E-car sharing in Lagundo

Anyone who only needs a car occasionally in Lagundo can now make use of a new electric vehicle. On Saturday 1 August, the municipality of Algund, together with the car-sharing provider AlpsGo, opened the new station at the centrally located Hans-Gamper-Platz square  in Lagundo.

The opening was attended by the council’s mobility officer, who welcomed the project on behalf of the council. He explained how the vehicle would be used jointly by council staff, as well as being made available to the general public, associations and businesses.
Tourists will also be able to make flexible use of the service in future. This marks the first time there has been an electric car-sharing vehicle for the council’s official business and, at the same time, a car for everyone.

Greater mobility, lower emissions

With a range of over 300 kilometres, the Volkswagen ID.3 is ideal for shopping, commuting or day trips. For longer journeys, the vehicle can be charged at numerous public charging points. The cost of charging whilst on the move is included in the price per kilometre of €0.28. The hourly rate starts at €3 per hour or €24.50 for a full day’s use.

Registration takes place online via alpsgo.it. Depending on usage, different tariffs are available for occasional and frequent users. The Lagundo village car can be hired for periods ranging from one hour up to five days. Bookings can be made round the clock via the app or website.
The vehicle is unlocked using a smartphone, and one-off registration is required before first use. Those with a Südtirol Pass and Alperia customers will have part of the registration fee, or the full amount, refunded as travel credit.

Public funding

The new station was set up as part of the public e-car-sharing funding scheme run by the Province of Bolzano. Hannes Wieser, Algund’s mobility representative, expressed his delight: “With the new car-sharing station, we are enabling climate-friendly mobility right here in the local area and adding another building block to further improve the quality of life in Algund. Thanks to the funding from the provincial government, the annual costs for the municipality are kept within reasonable limits. We now hope that many residents will make use of this service.”

According to AlpsGo, car-sharing is becoming increasingly popular in South Tyrol. “We are delighted with this positive development and the expansion of the car-sharing service here in Algund too. Algund is thus creating an attractive mobility option on very favourable terms,” emphasised Gebhard Platter of AlpsGo at the opening. “The constructive cooperation with the Burggräfler municipality is also particularly worth highlighting.”
