New electric village car in Luson

In collaboration with the municipality of Luson, the South Tyrolean e-car-sharing provider AlpsGo launched its new car-sharing service in Lüsen on Friday 8 May. A fully electric VW ID.3 will be available to hire from the station in the village centre.

Following an intensive planning phase, Lüsen is now expanding the electric car-sharing scheme in South Tyrol. Like a number of other local authorities, it has decided to hire an electric car-sharing vehicle, which will be used for official business but will also serve as a cost-effective ‘village car’ for the local community. In future, all residents, associations, businesses and tourists will be able to make flexible use of the service.

“We are delighted to be able to offer our residents another mobility option. The new car-sharing stations complement the existing public transport network and bring a modern, flexible form of transport to Luson,” emphasised the Mayor of Lüsen at the launch.

AlpsGo Director Gebhard Platter expressed his delight at the launch: “The collaboration with the local council has been instrumental in enabling a car-sharing scheme to be launched in Luson. Our aim is to create a widespread network of sustainable mobility. Lower emissions, less traffic and reduced costs are the key benefits.”

Klaus Mittelberger, the local councillor responsible for mobility, expressed his thanks at the launch: “I would like to thank everyone involved who has ensured that our new village car is now available to the public on St. Kilianweg. We deliberately chose the most affordable rate so that local residents will use the new service as often as possible.”

The Luson village car can be hired for periods ranging from one hour up to several days. Bookings can be made round the clock via the app. The vehicles are unlocked using a smartphone app. Before using the service for the first time, users must register once at www.alpsgo.it. With a subscription, the cost is €3 per hour, €24.50 per day and €0.28 per kilometre. The one-off registration fee of €19 is credited in part or in full as travel credit to holders of the Altoadige Pass or Alperia customers.

With the launch in Luson, AlpsGo is expanding its network to over 62 vehicles across 21 South Tyrolean municipalities. Registered users can hire the car-sharing vehicles not only in their own town but at all AlpsGo locations, from Innichen to Taufers i. M.
