New regional funding for e-car sharing

The province of South Tyrol is placing greater emphasis on sustainable mobility and has decided to actively promote e-car-sharing solutions. Both public entities and private parties can now apply for partial funding.

The provincial government has recently approved new criteria for promoting sustainable mobility in South Tyrol. The focus is on measures to reduce private vehicle traffic. The use of public transport, as well as other forms of sustainable mobility, is also to be promoted even more strongly.

In addition to cycling, the focus is particularly on e-car-sharing. Thanks to its traffic-reducing and environmentally friendly impact, it is expected to make a significant contribution to the development of sustainable mobility in South Tyrol and to improve the traffic situation in the long term.

Reducing citizens’ mobility costs

The aim of car-sharing is to make a second or third car in the family unnecessary by providing a shared vehicle, thereby reducing mobility costs.
Local authorities can take action here and set up an e-car-sharing scheme for their catchment area. The vehicles should be available in locations where most local residents regularly pass by and where there are links to public transport.

Up to 50% funding
Local authorities and private entities (companies and associations) can apply for 50% funding to set up a car-sharing scheme using electric vehicles. This funding rate is granted provided the cars are made available to the public without restriction.

Car-sharing for apartment buildings

Another new development is the funding opportunity for co-ownership associations (condominiums): if the vehicle is made available to the public, the funding also amounts to 50 per cent.
These measures are intended to help expand the network of car-sharing locations, particularly in rural areas. Full details can be found on the relevant mobility website of the Office for Infrastructure and Sustainable Mobility, where all information on the application process is provided. https://mobilitaet.provinz.bz.it
