Following a brief welcome and introduction by Mayor Roselinde Guntsch and Daniela Trintinaglia, President of AlpsGo, the vehicle was put into service. The fully electric VW ID.3 from the South Tyrolean e-car-sharing provider is now available at the council’s own charging station at the town hall and can be booked flexibly as a cost-effective ‘shared car’. During the public launch, interested residents had the opportunity to register free of charge and take a test drive to familiarise themselves with the service. The car-sharing vehicle is available to registered users round the clock. Associations, businesses and tourists will also be able to make flexible use of the service in future. Booking and access are conveniently handled via the AlpsGo app. Registration is available either with no fixed costs or via a subscription model. The subscription based tariff costs €3 per hour and €0.28 per kilometre. The one-off registration fee of €19 is credited in part or in full as travel credit to holders of the Altoadige Pass or Alperia customers. Rentals for one or more days are available from €24.50.
Less traffic, fewer cars
With this initiative, Tubre is making a tangible contribution to the expansion of South Tyrol’s e-car-sharing network, whilst at the same time supporting the objectives of the South Tyrolean Climate Plan. The focus is on effectively complementing public transport, ensuring a high level of user-friendliness and the smart integration of different modes of transport.
Thanks to public funding from the Province, the financial burden on the municipality remains manageable.
Mayor Roselinde Gunsch commented on the new mobility service: “Today, local authorities need attractive mobility solutions that are suitable for everyday use. Our new village car is intended for use by our staff on official business; at the same time, it can serve as an alternative to our residents’ own private cars – perhaps this will enable one or two households to do without at least a third or second car.”
Daniela Trintinaglia, President of AlpsGo, added: “We are proud to now be launching our municipal car-sharing service in Taufers in the Münstertal valley. Our aim is to give as many people in South Tyrol as possible access to our sustainable, cost-effective and flexible mobility service. With this new location, the municipality joins the province-wide e-car-sharing network – there are now over 60 electric cars available at 34 stations across 19 South Tyrolean municipalities.”
